The French Flavors of the Christmas Log - Madeira Island Style
The Portuguese Christmas log originates from an old French tradition. In winter, a large tree trunk was burned in the fireplace as a symbol of protection and prosperity.
This tradition reached us through confectionery. The log was transformed into a Christmas sweet, full of history and flavor. The soft dough of the cake is rolled and filled, offering layer upon layer of flavor in each slice.
Like the egg lamprey, this sweet also impresses with its visual appeal.
Decorated to recreate the appearance of wood, it's great for adding even more flavor to the Christmas table.
