Recipe: Ground Beef Sautéed with Fresh Tomatoes, Madeira Island Style

Ingredients

Ground beef: 500g (you can use chuck, round steak or pork) Tomatoes: 2 medium ripe tomatoes, diced Onion: 1/2 chopped onion Garlic: 2 cloves of chopped garlic Olive oil or vegetable oil: 1 tablespoon Seasonings: Salt, black pepper and cumin to taste

Preparation Method

Brown the meat: Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring frequently to break it into small pieces, until it loses its pink color. Sauté the herbs: Move the meat slightly to the side of the pan and add the onion and garlic to the free space. Sauté for 2 minutes until softened and fragrant. Add the tomato: Mix everything together and incorporate the diced fresh tomato. Season with salt, pepper, and cumin. Simmer: Cook for another 5 to 7 minutes over low heat. The tomatoes will release their natural juices and wilt slightly, creating a juicy meat just like in the photo.
