Homemade Loaded Bacon Cheese Fries
Yield: 4 servings
Prep time: 10 minutes | Cook time: 25–35 minutes
Ingredients
Fries: 1 bag (approx. 24–32 oz) of frozen French fries (regular or crinkle-cut)
Bacon: 6–8 slices of bacon, cooked until crispy and crumbled
Cheese Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
1 ½ to 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Salt and black pepper to taste
Optional: A pinch of paprika or cayenne pepper for a hint of spice
Instructions
Cook the Fries: Bake, air-fry, or deep-fry the French fries according to the package instructions until they are golden brown and extra crispy.
Prepare the Bacon: While the fries are cooking, fry the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Drain on paper towels and crumble into small bits.
Make the Cheese Sauce:
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.
Slowly pour into the milk while whisking constantly until the mixture thickens and is smooth.
Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese until completely melted. Season with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
Assemble: Place the hot fries on a large serving platter. Generously drizzle the warm cheese sauce over the fries and top with the crumbled bacon bits
Serve: Garnish with optional toppings like sliced green onions or jalapeños, and serve immediately while hot.
