 Pico do Areeiro ‘painted’ white leads to road closure

The intense cold felt today at Pico do Areeiro brought with it hail, transforming the landscape and leaving a white blanket covering this emblematic tourist spot in the region.

Due to the weather conditions and the formation of ice on the road, the authorities closed the road from Pico dos Melros, just below Poço das Neves, halfway between Poiso and Pico do Areeiro. This information was confirmed to JM by the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation.
