Hotel occupancy in Madeira will be 75.9% at Christmas and 88.3% at New Year's Eve
The Christmas festivities in Madeira, organized by the Regional Government, will take place between December 1st and January 7th. The event includes a variety of activities. A surprise is planned for December 12th, and its details will only be revealed on that date.
Regarding hotel occupancy, it will be 75.9% on December 24th, 25th, and 26th, and 88.3% at New Year's Eve. However, these figures will be updated on December 9th, following a new consultation with the sector.
The budget is €4.6 million, with a 15% increase due to the new additions.
The light show will take place, as in previous years, in Porto Santo. The lighting ceremony will be at 7 pm on the 1st, followed by a show by Bia Caboz and a Jazz Orchestra. This year's Christmas market underwent an environmental certification process, with organizational measures focused on sustainability.
The Christmas carols will have two different performances, one organized by the Orfeão Madeirenses and another for schools.
Schools will also participate in the initiative to decorate a tree at the Captain's Tower.
There will be workshops on Christmas treats.
The New Year's Eve celebrations begin on December 29th at Praça do Povo. Cristina Barbosa will perform that day, and there will also be street entertainment. DJ Pedro Pestana will perform on the 30th and 31st, followed by the Pedro Garcia Trio. There will also be a tribute to Tina Turner that day.
On the last day of the year, the fireworks and multimedia effects will begin at 11:40 PM, culminating in a grand finale at the stroke of midnight. There will be 58 fireworks displays that will light up the sky for 8 minutes. In Porto Santo, there will be 2 launch points.
The pyrotechnic displays will feature colored smoke balloons and pyrotechnic effects called 'angry beasts' with vertical designs. Another new feature is the participation of the inclusive band from the Cerebral Palsy Association of Madeira, the Rebuçados de Fencho.
Circus arts return to the Funchal Municipal Garden.
The Kings' Caroling will take place on January 5th in the Municipal Garden auditorium, organized by ACAPORAMA.
