'Costa Favolosa' Makes Eight-Hour Stop in Funchal
The 'Costa Favolosa' will be in Madeira this Sunday, November 9th. The cruise ship entered the Port of Funchal at 8:00 AM, arriving from Lisbon with 3,857 people on board, of which 2,821 are passengers and 1,036 are crew members, reveals APRAM - the Port Authority of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
Managed by Blatas, the 'Costa' has Italian captain Valentino Savarese on this voyage, which began on November 2nd in Genoa and has already passed through Marseille (France), Barcelona and Cádiz (Spain), and Lisbon.
From Funchal, the 'Favolosa' will depart this Sunday at 4:00 PM towards Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Canary Islands). Then comes Praia (Cape Verde) and then Brazil, with stops in Recife, Maceió, Salvador da Bahia and Rio de Janeiro, where the trip ends.
Built in 2011 at the Italian Fincantieri shipyards, this Costa Cruises ship has the capacity to accommodate up to 3,617 passengers and 1,100 crew members. It cost €510 million and was remodeled in 2018.
According to APRAM, this Monday will be a very busy day at the Port of Funchal, with the arrival of three ships: AIDAcosma, Azura and Mein Schiff Relax, which will stay overnight at Pontinha.
"Together, they bring nearly 18,000 people, including 12,900 passengers," adds the port authority in a press release.
