Madeira Airport Inaugurates Direct Tallinn–Funchal Flight with AirBaltic
Madeira Airport received its first direct flight from the Estonian capital, Tallinn, last Sunday. The new route, operated by airBaltic, will run weekly on Sundays until the end of March 2026. The flight takes approximately six hours and is operated with modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
According to Karen Strougo, Chief Commercial Officer of ANA|VINCI Airports, “the launch of airBaltic's new seasonal route between Tallinn and Madeira represents an important milestone in strengthening connectivity between Portugal and the Baltic region.”
According to a press release, the Funchal–Tallinn route represents airBaltic's sixth direct connection to the country, as this airline already provides connections from Faro, Lisbon, Madeira, and Porto to Riga (Latvia), and between Lisbon and Vilnius (Lithuania).
Finally, he says that these connections allow for a direct link to the Baltic States and also offer easy access to Finland and Scandinavia through the company's hub at Riga Airport (RIX).
