Ingredients


(makes about 12 donuts)

2 ¾ cups (345g) all-purpose flour

¼ cup (50g) sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 ¼ teaspoons (1 sachet) active dry yeast

¾ cup (180ml) warm milk

2 tablespoons (30g) melted butter

1 large egg

Vegetable oil for frying

Topping (optional): 1 cup (120g) confectioners' sugar + 2 tablespoons milk + vanilla extract





Instructions


Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.

Add the wet ingredients: Combine the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Stir until a sticky dough forms. Knead: Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes on a floured surface until smooth. Let it rest for 1 hour, covered, until doubled in size.


Shape: Roll out the dough (1 cm thick) and cut with a donut cutter. Let it rest for another 30 minutes.

Fry: Heat oil to 175°C (350°F) and fry the donuts for 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

Topping: Mix the topping ingredients and coat the donuts while they are still warm. Let them dry.


Serve:


Enjoy warm or store for 1 day – perfect for a fall 2025 snack!
