Grilled Turkey Steak with Tomato Sauce and Vegetables Recipe
Ingredients
(Serves 2):
For the grilled turkey steak: 2 turkey steaks (about 150-200g each)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
Juice of half a lemon
Salt and black pepper to taste
Fresh herbs (such as thyme or rosemary) or dried herbs (optional)
For the tomato sauce:
2 ripe tomatoes, chopped (or 200g canned peeled tomatoes)
1/2 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon sugar (optional, to balance the acidity)
Salt and black pepper to taste
Fresh basil or oregano (optional)
For the vegetables:
1 small zucchini, sliced or cubed
1 medium carrot, thinly sliced
1/2 red or yellow bell pepper, chopped Strips
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt, black pepper, and dried herbs (such as oregano or thyme) to taste
Preparation:
1. Prepare the turkey steaks: Season the steaks with salt, pepper, minced garlic, lemon juice, and herbs, if desired. Marinate for 10-15 minutes (optional, for more flavor).
Heat a grill or nonstick skillet with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Grill the steaks for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through (be careful not to dry them out). Set aside and keep warm.
2. Prepare the tomato sauce:
In a small saucepan, heat the oil and sauté the onion and garlic until softened (about 2-3 minutes).
Add the chopped tomatoes (or peeled tomatoes), salt, pepper, and sugar (if using). Cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
If desired, add basil or oregano at the end. For a smoother sauce, blend in a blender or use a mixer.
3. Prepare the vegetables:
In a skillet or wok, heat the olive oil and add the vegetables (carrots, zucchini, and bell peppers).
Season with salt, pepper, and dried herbs. Sauté over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, until tender but still crisp.
4. Assembly:
Place the grilled turkey steaks on plates.
Top or serve alongside with the hot tomato sauce.
Serve with the sautéed vegetables.
