Fried Fish Nuggets with Tartar Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
(Serves 4)
: 500g white fish fillet (such as tilapia, hake, or sole), cut into 3-4cm pieces
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs (or breadcrumbs)
1/2 cup cornmeal (optional, for extra crunch)
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 teaspoon paprika (optional, for flavor)
Juice of half a lemon
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions:
Preparing the fish: Season the fish pieces with salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Let rest for 10 minutes.
Assembling the breading station: In a plate, place the all-purpose flour.
In another plate, beat the eggs with a pinch of salt. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with the cornmeal (if using) and paprika.
Coating the nuggets:
Dip each piece of fish in the flour, then in the beaten egg, and finally in the breadcrumb mixture. Press lightly to ensure the crust adheres well.
Frying: Heat the oil in a deep skillet (about 2 cm of oil) over medium heat. Fry the nuggets for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
Serving: Serve hot with tartar sauce (recipe below) and lemon wedges.
