Easy and Simple Orange Cake Recipe
Ingredients
For the cake: 3 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup orange juice (preferably fresh)
1/2 cup oil
1 tablespoon baking powder
Zest of 1 orange (optional, for added flavor)
For the syrup (optional): 1 cup orange juice
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
Preheat the oven: Set the temperature to 180°C (350°F) and grease a 9-inch (22 cm) round or perforated pan with butter and flour.
Blend the liquids: In a blender, blend the eggs, sugar, orange juice, and oil until smooth. Mix the dry ingredients: In a bowl, sift the flour and baking powder. Add the orange zest, if using.
Combine the ingredients: Pour the liquid mixture from the blender into the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix gently with a spatula or whisk until everything is incorporated.
Bake:
Pour the batter into the greased pan and bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Syrup (optional): While the cake is baking, combine the orange juice, sugar, and cornstarch (if using) in a saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring until slightly thickened. Pour the hot syrup over the baked, unmolded cake.
Serve: Let the cake cool slightly before cutting. Serve plain or with the syrup.
