Portuguese Cod with Cream Recipe


Ingredients


4 desalted cod fillets

600 ml milk

1 onion, sliced

olive oil

2 tablespoons flour

1 kg potato(s)

nutmeg

200 ml cream

grated cheese

salt to taste

pepper to taste




Preparation


Cook the cod fillets in the milk.

Slice the onion thinly and sauté in the olive oil until soft and translucent.

Drain the cod, flake it, and add it to the onion mixture. Let it sauté slowly. Sprinkle with flour, stir, and pour over the strained milk in which you cooked the cod. Let it thicken, stirring occasionally. Peel and dice the potatoes and fry them in hot oil, making sure they're more cooked than fried. Drain the potatoes and add them to the cod. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

Pour everything into a greased baking dish, spread the cream on top, and sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake until golden brown.

Serve with a fresh lettuce and tomato salad.
