Chocolate Cake with Strawberries Recipe
Ingredients
250g Dark Chocolate (150g for the cake and 100g for the topping) Greener symbol
150 g sugar (125g for the cake, 25g for the syrup)
110 g flour
200g butter (150g for the cake, 50g for the frosting)
4 0 eggs
100 ml whipped cream
8 ounces Strawberries (75g for the syrup, 150g to decorate the cake)
20 ml of water
8 g baking powder
Preparation
Place the chopped strawberries in a pan with the water and sugar. Bring to a boil and cook for 7-8 min on low-medium heat. Mix and let cool.
Preheat the oven to 180º.
Melt 150 g of chopped chocolate with 150 g of butter in the microwave. Stir until creamy.
Beat the egg whites until stiff and set aside.
Beat the egg yolks with 125 g of sugar for a few minutes until they turn white.
Add the chocolate and buttercream and stir until well combined.
Add the sifted yeast and flour and mix.
Add the beaten egg whites to the mixture, using gentle, swirling movements.
Pour into a 20cm pan lined with baking paper.
Bake for 40-45 min.
Unmold and let cool.
Cut the cake in half and spread the strawberry syrup. Place the other half of the cake on top.
For the topping:
Heat the cream until it starts to boil and add the rest of the chopped chocolate and the remaining 50 g of butter;
Mix well until you obtain a homogeneous cream;
Pour the mixture over the cake (on top of a rack);
To plate;
Cut the remaining strawberries into slices and place the central slices around the cake.
Decorate to taste with strawberries.
