Chocolate and coffee cake


INGREDIENTS


300g plain flour

300g sugar

125g butter

30g cocoa

125ml coffee

125ml semi-skimmed milk

2 egg yolks

2 egg whites

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Topping

125g butter

45g cocoa

150ml coffee

+/- 250g powdered sugar (confectioner's)





PREPARATION METHOD


Beat the butter and sugar until creamy.


Add the beaten egg yolks and mix.


Add the cocoa, coffee, and milk and mix.


Add the sifted flour, baking powder, and vanilla and beat until a thin dough forms.


Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the mixture.


Bake in the oven at 170ºC for 45 minutes, in a tin lined with baking paper to make it easier to remove from the tin.


To make the frosting, mix all the ingredients together and add the icing sugar until it reaches a consistency that can be covered.


Unmold, let it cool and cover with the frosting. If you want, you can also cut the cake in half and fill it with the frosting cream.
