Leftover Bread: What to Do?
Raise your hand if you've never left the last slice of bread?! Well, bread is a food we eat (almost) every day and it's possible that we have leftovers in our house. But what to do? Nowadays, the rule is to use up leftover food.
If you're used to French toast or bread pudding, know that there are also other alternatives to reuse these foods, both sweet and savory recipes. Breadcrumbs, for example, can be made at home in an economical way. For toast, instead of buying it ready-made, make it at home. There's also bread lasagna, traybake, meatloaf, meatballs, all made with leftover bread.
Breadcrumbs: Put the pieces of old bread in the blender (or food processor) until everything is crushed. Breadcrumbs can be used to coat steaks, gratin, and give a very special flavor.
