Classic Banana Split Recipe
Ingredients:
1 ripe banana (but still firm)
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
1 scoop chocolate ice cream
1 scoop strawberry ice cream
Chocolate, caramel and/or strawberry sauce to taste
Whipped cream (homemade or ready-made)
Colored sprinkles or chocolate sprinkles
Chopped almonds, walnuts or chestnuts (optional)
Cherries in syrup for decoration
Preparation:
Preparing the Banana:
Peel the banana and cut it in half lengthwise. Place the two halves on a long plate or small platter, leaving space between them for the ice cream.
Adding the Ice Cream:
Place the three scoops of ice cream between the two halves of the banana. Start with the vanilla ice cream in the middle and position the chocolate and strawberry ice cream on the sides.
Decorating with Sauces and Whipped Cream:
Drizzle each scoop of ice cream with a different sauce. Traditionally, vanilla ice cream is made with chocolate sauce, chocolate ice cream with caramel sauce, and strawberry sauce with strawberry ice cream.
Add a generous layer of whipped cream on top of each scoop of ice cream or around the plate, as you prefer.
To finish:
Sprinkle sprinkles or chocolate sprinkles on top of the whipped cream. If you want a crunchier touch, add chopped almonds or walnuts.
Finish by decorating each portion of whipped cream with a cherry in syrup.
Tips for variation:
If you want to innovate, change the flavors of the ice cream or add chocolate chips, crushed cookies, or pieces of fresh fruit. This recipe allows for many variations!
Serve immediately to enjoy the creaminess of the ice cream in contrast with the freshness of the banana and the crunchiness of the toppings.
