Chocolate and Coffee Cake Recipe π°π°π
Ingredients:
For the cake
: 2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar (you can use brown sugar for a richer flavor)
3/4 cup cocoa powder (50% cocoa or chocolate powder)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch of salt
2 eggs
1 cup brewed coffee (strong, unsweetened, at room temperature)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk
For the frosting
(optional): 1 cup semisweet chocolate (chopped or in chips)
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon brewed coffee (optional, to intensify the flavor)
1 tablespoon butter
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan (22-24 cm) or use parchment paper.
Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the sugar and mix.
Mix the wet ingredients: In another bowl, beat the eggs, coffee, oil, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Combine the mixtures: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring with a whisk or spatula until a smooth batter forms (do not overmix).
Bake: Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes before unmolding.
Topping (optional): Melt the chocolate and cream in a double boiler or microwave (in 20-second intervals, stirring well).
Add the butter and coffee (if using), stirring until glossy.
Spread over the cooled cake.
Serve: Garnish with sprinkles, chocolate shavings, or coffee beans (optional). Serve with fresh coffee!
