Recipe for Egg Bread, the famous Japanese sandwich "tamago sando"
Have you heard of tamago sando? It's a Japanese egg bread that's all the rage in konbini (small Japanese mini-markets). Imagine perfectly cooked hard-boiled eggs, mashed with a little Japanese mayonnaise, placed between two slices of bread. Simple and delicious, this "egg bread" sandwich is perfect for a quick lunch or snack. If you prefer to add more flavor, add some shredded chicken. Check out our recipe below:
Ingredients
4 slices of white bread (without crust)
3 eggs (boiled)
2 tablespoons of Japanese mayonnaise (Kewpie here)
1 tablespoon of milk
1 pinch of salt
1 pinch of sugar
1 pinch of pepper
Preparation
Boil the eggs in a pan of boiling water for 10 minutes. Let them cool in the pan or bowl of cold water. Then peel them.
In a bowl, mash the eggs.
*The size of the egg crumbs depends on your taste.
Add the mayonnaise, milk, salt, sugar and pepper.
Mix well.
Spread the mixture evenly over the 4 slices of sandwich bread and close the sandwiches. Refrigerate before serving.
