Cannoli/straws with vanilla cream
Who can resist a straw filled with vanilla cream, inspired by the Italian recipe? Simply irresistible.
Ingredients
1 puff pastry
250 ml milk
2 egg yolks
1 vanilla bean
60 g sugar
30 g cornstarch
1 egg yolk for browning
icing sugar
Preparation
Cut the puff pastry into strips a little over 1 cm wide
Fold the aluminum foil to form a roll
Roll each strip of dough around the aluminum roll, being careful not to go beyond the roll.
Brush the egg yolk over each straw and sprinkle with icing sugar.
Bake for 20 minutes at 180°C, then let cool.
Vanilla cream:
In a saucepan, bring the milk to a boil with the vanilla bean (open the bean and remove the seeds).
In a bowl, beat the egg yolks with the sugar until light and creamy. Add the cornstarch and mix well.
When the milk boils, gradually add it to the previous mixture (of the egg yolk and sugar) and pour the contents back into the saucepan.
Thicken the cream over medium heat, stirring constantly. Then remove the saucepan from the heat, pour the cream into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap (to prevent a dry layer from forming. Leave the plastic in contact with the cream). Let it cool.
Using a pastry bag, fill each cannoli with the vanilla cream.
Your vanilla cream cannolis are ready. 😊
