Christmas Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
500g corn flour
250g wheat flour
250g sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground fennel
150ml olive oil
150ml honey
200ml hot water
Zest of 1 lemon
1 pinch of salt
Preparation:
In a large bowl, mix the corn and wheat flours, yeast, cinnamon, fennel and salt.
In a saucepan, heat the olive oil, honey and water until everything is well mixed and hot (without boiling).
Pour the hot mixture over the dry ingredients and stir well with a wooden spoon. Add the lemon zest.
Let the dough rest for about 30 minutes to absorb the liquid.
Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a baking tray.
Shape the dough into small loaves and place them on the baking sheet.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the loaves are golden brown and have cracks on the surface.
These loaves are perfect with coffee or tea, bringing the true Christmas spirit with their unmistakable aroma of spices.
