 Salted Caramel Cake


Ingredients


Salted Caramel:

200g sugar

85g butter

120ml cream

1 tablespoon fleur de sel

Cake:

225g softened salted butter

125g sugar

100g brown sugar

4 large eggs

225g self-raising flour

2 tablespoons milk

1 vanilla pod

Topping:

100g softened butter

200g powdered sugar

70g salted caramel

Toffee candies to taste






Preparation


1. For the salted caramel, heat the sugar in a frying pan and let it melt without stirring. When it is completely melted and has turned an amber color, remove the pan from the heat and add the butter. Stir and add the cream. Mix everything very well until the cream melts into the caramel. Add a pinch of fleur de sel. Leave to cool completely.

2. For the cake, preheat the oven to 160/180ΒΊC with the fan.

3. Grease a 20cm springform pan with butter and line the bottom with baking paper.

4. In a bowl, place the butter and the 2 sugars and beat well until creamy.

5. Add the eggs, one at a time, adding a spoonful of flour and beating between each egg.

6. Finally, add the remaining flour and the milk and mix everything well.

7. Pour the mixture into the pan and bake for about 60 minutes. Use a toothpick to check if the cake is cooked.

8. Leave the cake to cool a little, then unmold and place on a rack until completely cool.

9. In the meantime, prepare the frosting.

10. In a bowl, place the butter and icing sugar and beat for 3 minutes, until light and airy.

11. Add 70g of the salted caramel and beat well.

12. When the cake is completely cool, pour the topping over it.

13. Spread pieces of caramel over the cake and pour more salted caramel over it.
